New vintage Kiwi Sauvignon, not from Marlborough, but from next-door Nelson. This suntrap region inspired Hermann Seifried to plant vines in 1973. His son makes the wine today and his 2022 is pulsing with zingy lime, nettle leaf and tropical fruit.

Tasting notes: Feijoa and other tropical fruit, lime, nettles and mineral zip

Aroma: Lively nettle, zingy lime, tropical fruit

Allergy information: Contains Sulphites

For a ripe, yet lively white, head for New Zealand. Marlborough is the best-known region, but just round the coast is Nelson, sunshine capital of South Island. Austrian-born Hermann Seifried and his wife Agnes planted vines there in 1973. Today they have an impressive 300 hectares that stretch over the sun-laden hills – ideal for grapes. Their three children, brought up very much among the vines, now work at the family estate – Chris is head winemaker, his sister Heidi, a dentist and part-time winemaker, and youngest, Anna, heads up sales. This fruit-filled Sauvignon with zippy lime and mineral character is a celebration of the region’s beautiful, golden sand beaches and turquoise seas. Chill down and enjoy solo or with spicy Asian dishes.
